To further our mission of outreach in the greater Los Angeles area, the Los Angeles Composers Collective, in partnership with Accordant Commons, is sponsoring a composition competition and invites all current high school and community college students to submit a score.
The winning piece will be performed by Accordant Commons at our upcoming concert in April. The winning composer will also receive a recording of the performance, and the piece will be showcased on lacomposerscollective.com
Submissions are anonymous and the winning piece will be selected by a panel of LACC and Accordant Commons members. Pieces should be 3-10 minutes in length and written for one or two soprano voices either a cappella or with any or all of the following instruments: bassoon, cello, and piano.
Composers must be current high school or community college students. Submission fee is $5.00.
Submissions should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org and should include:
• Score in PDF format
• Recording, if available (MIDI renditions are okay)
• An image of your current student ID card, front and back
• Your name, a contact phone number, and the name and city of your school
• DO NOT include your name or any identifying information on the score or recording
Submission fee should be submitted via PayPal to email@example.com or through our donation page: lacomposerscollective.org/support.html
You will receive a confirmation email once your score and fee have been received.
The deadline to submit is March 1, 2017.
